Almon Farrel started manufacturing large rolling mills in 1848. Here in Ansonia and Waterbury CT the Farrel Foundry & Machine produced large mills that were used in the sugar, brass and rubber industries. The companies are still in operation to this day as the Waterbury Farrell and Farrel Pomini. They lead the world in production of these same products 170 years latter.
The machines, weighing up to 350 tons were shipped to all parts of the world in the 19th century. Cuba, Sweden,Italy, France, Russia and the Sandwich Islands.
The drawings are done on linen with India ink. True artisans were the draftsman that produced these drawings. From these drawing large castings were made to start the process of building these huge rolling mills . These are original mechanical drawings not reproductions. The drawing is 30"w x 22"h
